Live To Love September 2009
Today, Sunday I read His Holiness's blog and realized that, even though it is my birthday I should do something for others, rather than enjoy myself. I rushed to the shop and called some friends to help me distribute the food Ii was about to cook. London is an interesting city as it is not easy finding the homeless, because our social care has improved greatly. It seems that from 5 pm they appear on the streets, as they are unable to get into a shelter for the night. It turned out to be the best moment to find them as they were claiming their place on the pavement for the night. Nearly all of them were desperate for food and drink, none of them were drunk and it really brought it home to me that the people in my hometown are in great need. I pray that I will continue to feed the hungry and those who are in need of love and care”. J. Pema Chutsoe
“It was so inspiring and joyful to see our friend Chutsoe arriving to our meeting place with a bag full of individual containers in which she had lovingly placed a homemade baked pie, a healthy bar and a fruit in each! Jigme Tse Tso Lakyid then joined in and added organic chocolate bars to the containers. We went off to Victoria and to our surprise found a few homeless sitting there. The last few times I went with Norbu Dawa we only saw a maximum of 5 people but this time they were many more. In fact as we were giving food, more and more came and we ended up feeding 24 homeless! The containers of food were not enough so we went back and forth from the local fast food to bring them hot fries and teas. They were very grateful. There is one image which stayed in my mind; as we were giving food to them, one of them threw a bit of crumbs to the pigeons; it was a lovely image of a chain of giving. We are very keen to go back there regularly as a UK Live to Love group as well as developing other projects too”. Pelmo
